Safety, Security and Fire Protection on the agenda in Dubai
The exhibitors presented a comprehensive range of products across seven broad sections: Commercial Security, Smart Home, Information Security, Fire & Rescue, Safety & Health, Homeland Security & Policing and Perimeter & Physical Security. This events presents the latest technologies available and is highly relevant in the context of innovation and the use of technologies to increase safety in road tunnels and proper tools for emergency services with responsibilities for underground facilities, and not at least how to handle fire in vehicles with new energy carriers.
New developments within thermal imaging, imaging resolutions and surveillance systems to manage an increasing amount of detection systems, cameras, and other new functionality from Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), are some of the highlights from the security sections. The intelligence that is implemented in some of these solutions are impressive, and will definitely contribute to better services, and more reliable solutions in the future, also in the context of tunnel operations.
Solutions to prevent cyber attacks on control centre, objects and vulnerable networks was also presented by several companies on the exhibition, and cyber security has a growing attention in this part of the surveillance industry. A topic that has an special interest - considering the new ways to communicate (IoT, Internet of Things).
New improved fire fighting robots, for use in hazardous environment, was also presented. It is now possible to equip fire and rescue services with robots that has a speed of 30 km/h, with a 200 litre tank of foam, that can handle obstacles and climb stairs and has the ability to operate and give visual imaging under the most extreme conditions. How this technology can be used in tunnel fire operations, will be explored in later articles.
